Big Maths in P5/6

 

Big Maths is a big part of our week in P5/6. It helps us become more fluent with numbers and to make connections.

Vanessa uses Coin Multiplication in the video above to solve big numbers.

Ksenija and Lille help each other our with adding decimal numbers. The strategies they are writing on the board will gradually be taken away to attempt to solve the maths in their brain only.

Connor solves some Coin Multiplication on his board. He likes to challenge himself with 3 digit numbers.

This pupil has partitioned a 3 decimal point number. Partitioning is when you break down a number into its values.

In the video above. Yasmine explains what Smile Multiplication is. It is a great way to solve multiplication problems with bigger numbers.
