Letter from Mrs Webster
Dear Parents/Carers
As this first week of fulltime education draws to a close for our learners, I just want to tell you how lovely it has been to have our children back with us. Overall, the week has proceeded very smoothly and I want to say a big thank you for your co-operation and support in helping our pupils return to school safely. There have been glitches and I am appreciative of the range of communication that has come our way to help us iron these out as we learn how to cope with the new arrangements. Please continue to help us to get things right.
Some things to focus on going forward:
Physical Distancing
Of particular importance is the observation of the two metre distancing between adults as you drop off and collect your children. To help with this, please leave the vicinity of the gates as soon as you have dropped or collected your children.
Time-keeping
It is really important that children arrive at school on time and are picked up on time. In line with our approved risk assessment, children should not be coming in or being collected via the front door of the school unless this has been agreed with the Head Teacher.
Parking
Thank you for observing the car park rules, which mean that parents must not use the school car park for any reason, unless you have a blue badge. It has been brought to our attention that some parents are parking on the yellow zig zag lines at the school gates. This is illegal and compromises the safety of our children. If this continues we will ask wardens to patrol the area.
School Meals
Please be reminded that the school kitchen will be offering a full menu from next week. The current menu is on Aberdeen City Council’s website:
Meals cost £2.20 each, and are free to all pupils in Primary 1, 2 & 3. However, they must be paid for if your child is in Primary 4, 5, 6 or 7. This should be done online normally, but new families may put money in a clearly marked envelope into school until the meal card arrives. If you are in receipt of certain benefits you can apply for free meals. Full information is available on Aberdeen City Council website, or contact the school office to discuss.
Water Bottles
Children may bring water bottles to school, but please do not give them the aerosol type as these can be sprayed at other pupils and possibly spread disease.
Holidays
A full list of holidays will follow and is currently available on Aberdeen City Council website, but please be advised of the following dates in the meantime:
- September holiday – Friday 25 September to Monday 28 September 2020
- Term ends – Friday 9 October 2020
- October holiday – Monday 12 October to Friday 23 October 2020.
Kind regards
Mrs Susie Webster
