Kaimhill School Newsletter September 2016
Newsletter No. 1 September 1, 2016
Dear Parents/Guardians
I do hope you all had an enjoyable summer break. We extend a warm welcome to you all, especially to our new families.
School Dinner Tickets
Please be reminded that these must be bought in the foyer between 8.45 am to 8.55 am. The cost of a dinner ticket remains unchanged at £2.10. Cheques should be made payable to Aberdeen City Council.
School Uniform/PE Kit
It is lovely to see so many of our pupils coming to school in uniform. We do encourage all children to wear full uniform, and sweatshirts and polo shirts etc can be purchased from the office. Please label all items and do not leave them unattended! We have a new PE specialist (Miss Sutherland), who is with us on a Thursday and Friday, but children may undertake PE-related activities on any day of the week. A PE kit consists of shorts, T-Shirt and indoor shoes. This should be brought to school on a Monday and taken home on a Friday for washing. Gym bags are on sale from the school office at a cost of £3.50.
Absence Notification/Trips
Please notify the school if your child is to be absent for any reason. It is also important that you return the general permission and medical information sheet to allow us to contact you in an emergency. If we have asked for a donation towards a trip, please try to put in the correct change. We are always looking for parent helpers for trips. Please consider offering to help out if you can, otherwise some trips may have to be cancelled. Thank you!
Aberdeen City Council No Smoking Policy
Please be reminded that there is no smoking anywhere on our premises, which includes the playground and car park areas.
Expansion of Nursery Hours
The Scottish Government is to expand the offer of early learning and childcare hours to 1140 for some two year olds, and all three and four year olds by 2020. Public consultation is taking place and for our area this will be at Harlaw Academy on September 13, 2016, from 7.00 – 8.30 pm. Other dates and more information is available from the school.
Arts Award Project
We are very excited to be the first school in Scotland to be taking part in this project, which will happen during the whole of the first week back after the October holidays. More information will follow, but in the meantime please put September 20, 2016, at 1.30 pm, in your diary for a parent information session in school.
